EBFC Community

EBFC worked up at Kingfisher Court Community Kitchen opening up a neglected and under used community room back to the community after over 8 years of locked doors! Thank you Brighton & Hove Council for the one year lease and many thanks to Councillor Gill Williams, the new deputy leader of the council and supporter of EBFC from it’s inception for unstinting support for our work in addressing the health & education inequalities that many residents of East Brighton & the City live with. Our lease has now sadly come to an end and EBFC’s work to make sure the rooms are given back to and used by the community has been a huge success.

We have the biggest lunch club across Brighton & Hove with over 100+ people who we cook and deliver daily fresh, healthy nutritious Meals on Wheels too who cannot get out and would otherwise not eat a daily healthy meal.

2022, a Summer of EBFC fun and friendship events for the community in Whitehawk – much needed after 2 years of lockdown.

EBFC’s work is extensive ranging from help with food (Hundreds of tonnes saved and redistributed to families in Whitehawk as well as across Brighton & Hove) and fuel costs to providing thousands of items of school uniform to hundreds of local families and also mental health therapy & training ( in partnership with NHS Central & East Brighton PCN ) for residents & volunteers. EBFC held a Free weekly community BBQ outside Kingfisher court through Spring Summer & Autumn with lots of fun and activities including bouncy castles , animal therapy with ducks, chickens and dogs. EBFC have also been running 2 free outdoor wellbeing allotment events weekly with free food & refreshments, numerous local workshops and events and kicking off 2022 Brighton Festival in Whitehawk with the Hearts of Hope art trail, free BBQ’s & the Homeless v Refugees charity football match on the pitches next to Kingfisher Court.

EBFC are looking to do a cinema club ( when we get the licence – we have the equipment ) & also kayaking ( we have 5 x single canoes & 1 x  7 berth canoe ) so theres lots of exciting times ahead and the residents are very enthusiastic.

EBFC would like to say a big thank you to all the different teams at BHCC who have help to make this happen and for helping the EBFC with our award winning pioneering community work . It really helps having a forward looking supportive council behind us as it would not be possible without you.

EBFC have collected multiple awards this year, but being noticed & then awarded a place in the UK Natwest Top 100 Social Enterprises in 2022 and 2023 is extremely pleasing for the EBFC crew who all work extremely hard to make this magic happen.
