In April, EBFC were invited to be in a new BBC documentary, the NHS 80 years on, presented by Mark Thomas and Sir Michael Marmot. To be shown in the autumn sometime, date to be confirmed.

In 2024 EBFC became a Top 5 Social Enterprise in the UK.

Finalists in the 2024 NatWest SE100 for our pioneering work across Brighton & Hove. This city is the capital for Social Enterprises in the UK so we are very honoured that the hard work and dedication of the EBFC crew for our daily fresh nutritious delivered meal service, our work redistributing free surplus food to schools and other food organisations, our work with the NHS and our free foody community events are being recognised at a national level for the 3rd year running. 

East Brighton Food co-op in the top 5 finalist Social Enterprise Pioneers 2024

 

Our partnership is with the NHS and The East & Central Brighton PCN Social Prescribing Team; we are working together to provide support and care, doing what we do best: making our fresh healthy nutritious meals for those being discharged from hospital, using the healing power of good food to assist them with their recovery from hospital treatment. Our NHS Partners were at Whitehawk FC, while EBFC were providing lovely freshly made apple juice our local social subscribers were checking everyones blood pressure at the local Whitehawk FC match. Come on You Hawks!

A very big thank you to all the wonderful people who have helped and supported our work and helped turn us into a multi award winning community project. EBFC have been awarded a Gold Covid-19 Community Champion Award and Brighton & Hove buses have awarded 2 of our members, Sue & Bryan top spots on the Number 1 bus route in recognition of their contribution to their community. They have 1 bus each, look out for them!

ECO NEWS

A great day of protest and action on January 12th 2020, with East Brighton Food Co-op providing fresh apple juice along with many helpers and great cooks, feeding us all up with hearty hot soups, hot dogs and plenty of warm tea.

Emergency action is needed to save our beautiful Nature Reserve from property developers!

People Power can save Whitehawk Hill for future generations.

Meanwhile, last summer we were busy making Fruit Smoothies with the help of our Local Kemp Town MP. Lloyd Russell-Moyle.

Cookery classes held by The Causewayed Movement in 2019 created some tasty and healthy biscuits, delicious and nutritious!
